A place to practice, really?

Ok, I set this blog up for a writing practice place. It came as a suggestion from Cathy Z's book, Clean & Simple, I love that book. I also love to scrap and have renewed motivation for at least two reasons. Reason number one is that I am developing my own style, and it is good. Reason number two is all about space. Jerry and I are working on our guest room/scrap space, Which is nice. I will actually have some space to set up and leave it up! It's not an extremely large space, but who cares, it's scrap space that's mine and I'm so grateful.

The christmas 12x12 book that I've been working on is so close to current, I think I'm dreaming. This book has all our family Christmas Holidays since 1989. I'm finishing the cover page today and then I have 2004 and 2005 (4 pages) to complete. Then I'll scrap in January every year our Holiday pics from the previous year. We have some cool family traditions around the Holidays that simply must be documented and scrapped!

I'm learning about motivation and that it doesn't have to be about scrapping every single picture that I've ever taken (yes, that's ALOT and just the thought of it leaves me feeling overwhelmed and behind). I'm realizing that it's about telling the story of our lives, capturing moments that I want to remember, and making it look cool. It's about the fun of creating a lay-out that showcases our stories-journaling and the process of doing that includes the use of cool paper, maybe some ribbon, a great picture or two, and whatever other embelishments that I want to use . The first and most important piece is to use words that tell our story and these stories, our lives, all the details will be of interest to those who come after us.

Going for now, gotta go go finish that cover page!
